1. Spare Clothes/ Jacket
Keeping a spare set of clothes (including a shirt, trousers, under garments, socks and shoes) is an easy step vehicle owners can take to prepare for being drenched or getting muddy. Keeping a jacket or jumper on-hand is also useful to prepare for cold weather.
2. Towels and Rags
Whether there’s a spilt drink in the back seat, your pet has had an accident or you’re getting into your vehicle soaking wet, towels and rags are useful items to help clean or dry the inside of your car.
3. Umbrella
Rain can come at the most unexpected times. Getting out of your car on a pouring day is an uncomfortable experience. For these situations, we recommend keeping a collapsible umbrella in the boot or glove compartment of your car to prepare for rainy days.
4. Torch
Another small item you can keep in your boot or glove compartment is a torch. Whether it be that your destination has no streetlights, you’ve lost something in the dark, or you have a flat tyre at night, keeping a torch in your car is highly recommended.
5. First Aid Kit
Plasters, bandages and antiseptic are among the many useful supplies you can get in a first aid kit.
6. Reusable Shopping Bags
Many states have banned or are soon banning plastic bags to encourage the use of reusable shopping bags. To avoid buying a new set of reusable bags every time you go shopping, we advise keeping at least a couple of bags in your car.
7. Hand Sanitiser
It’s reasonable to assume a car’s steering wheel can collect a lot of bacteria. We recommended keeping a bottle of hand sanitiser to help prevent the spread of bacteria when entering or leaving your car.
8. Paper Maps
Many drivers are now using their phones and GPSs to navigate the roads. However, in the event that your phone runs out of battery or your GPSs does not work, you’d best prepare by keeping paper maps in your car.
9. A Set of Tools
Screwdriver, spanner and a cross-nut wrench are among the most important tools you can keep in your car particularly if you have a flat tyre or are experiencing engine issues.
10. A Large Full Bottle of Water
Keeping a bottle of water in your car is a must. Faulty radiator, dehydration, removing a stain, there are dozens of uses for water.
