Finance One is now a Code Member of the AFIA Finance Industry Code of Practice. Our membership took effect on 1 October 2026 and covers our consumer, commercial and home loan businesses. Here’s what the Code is, and what it means if you’re a Finance One customer.
What is the AFIA Finance Industry Code of Practice?
The AFIA Finance Industry Code of Practice (the AFIA Code) is an industry code of practice for Australia’s non-bank and specialist lenders. It was developed by the Australian Finance Industry Association (AFIA), the industry body for the finance sector, and came into force on 1 October 2026.
The Code builds on lenders’ legal obligations and explains what they mean in practice for customers, from applying for finance through to the end of a loan.
Is Finance One a member of the AFIA Code?
Yes. The Finance Industry Code Compliance Committee confirmed Finance One as a Code Member effective 1 October 2026. Finance One is listed on AFIA’s Code Members page.
What does the AFIA Code mean for Finance One customers?
As a Code Member, Finance One has committed to the standards in the Code. These include:
• clear, plain-English information about our products, terms and fees
• support for customers experiencing financial difficulty or vulnerability
• responsible use of technology, including safeguards against scams
• fair and timely handling of complaints, with access to external dispute resolution if a complaint can’t be resolved with us
You can read the full Code on AFIA’s website.
Who checks that Finance One follows the Code?
The Finance Industry Code Compliance Committee (FICCC) monitors Code Members’ compliance with the AFIA Code. It can request information from members to check how they are meeting the Code’s standards.
